VB Previz #22 – The Dance of Life

During VBFM-3 – Starlight yesterday, NightOwl reflected on our wearing of atypical body shapes, how for better & worse bodies in SL are so detached from RL, and she said she wanted to do skins with wrinkles.

I’ve written previously that it’s ironic that in SL we have so much wider a range of body possibilities than IRL: tall, short, heavy, thin, neko, furry, a dragon, the sun! But that most of us most of the time inhabit a narrower range of bodies than IRL. Aside from a few Portuguese women I’ve met with marvelously Amazonian bodies, many of us do follow the narrowest definition of Western beauty.

I’d love it if Night does make wrinkle skins, because as far as I’ve found so far, they don’t exist! I’ve discovered a single, elderly Asian male avatar, and that’s it that I’ve found for wrinkles… or pretty much that’s it for any look beyond 20’s!

Maybe 20’s hits the cultural sweet spot! We all want to be teenagers, but it’s against the LL TOS, so we settle for 20’s as a nice, still ripe-fruit age.

And then there is Edvard Munch’s painting from 1900, The Dance of Life. How great it would be to perform that painting!
